New Releases for Nintex Workflow for Office 365May 20, 2014
The latest release of Nintex Workflow for Office 365 adds new capabilities like State Machines, RunIf, and Action labels. You can now design workflows using State Machine and RunIf actions to build agile, dynamic, and powerful processes with advanced logic. With the new action labeling capability, users can easily label each action in their workflow design to describe the process in easy to understand terms.
Watch the video linked here for more details.
- State Machines
Using state machines users can model workflow processes to jump between different levels of business logic in a way that's easy to understand and maintain. For example, if you have several levels of synchronous approvals (in processes like employee onboarding, document approval, advertisement creation process, sales order generation, etc.) and a certain level declines the request, then state machine allows you to go back to the previous level of approval.
- RunIf Action
The RunIf action allows you encapsulate workflow actions to run only if a certain condition is met.
- Label Your Workflows
Adding meaningful labels to your workflow actions helps users understand the process and its current status better. It provides context to business process owner for reviews and documentation, especially if they are not familiar with the action's icon.

“Nintex software elevates Office 365 sites from places where work is put, to places where work is done,” said Mike Fitzmaurice, vice president of product technology at Nintex. “Approval routing, employee onboarding, forms processing, expense handling – all of the things customers have been doing for years with Nintex and SharePoint on-premise – are now available in new places and to new customers.”
“These new offerings have been redesigned as native cloud solutions, and they fit into Office 365 using the new SharePoint cloud app model,” Fitzmaurice added. “As has always been true for Nintex products, they work by enhancing – not replacing – customers’ SharePoint investments.”
Nintex Workflow for Office 365, like its on-premise counterpart, enables users, developers and IT professionals to automate processes quickly and easily, without sacrificing power or manageability. Nintex Forms for Office 365 is an easy-yet-powerful way to build and manage forms that are web-aware, SharePoint-aware, workflow-aware and mobile-aware. Both Nintex Workflow and Forms for Office 365 allow solutions to be built in a browser using familiar drag-and-drop techniques.

Nintex Chosen as Finalist for the 2013 Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards in Two CategoriesMay 31, 2013
Nintex has been selected as a finalist for the Microsoft Partner of the Year awards in two categories. The annual awards honor Microsoft partners for delivering innovative solutions and leadership excellence that directly address customer challenges by developing and delivering Microsoft platform-based software applications to mutual customers.
“Our dedication to delivering quality workflow products within this outstanding global partner network is what drives us day after day,” says Wayne Woolston, president, Nintex. “Being named a finalist in two categories is an honor as well as validation that we’re building tremendous momentum in the global marketplace. These awards are a fantastic testament to the shared commitment of all our partners in finding customer solutions that impact the marketplace using Microsoft technologies.”
Microsoft honored its partners with awards across multiple categories, with finalists and winners chosen from thousands of submissions from more than 100 countries worldwide. Nintex was named a finalist in both the Office/SharePoint App Developer of the Year and Project and Portfolio Management Partner of the Year categories.
Nintex was recognized in the Office/SharePoint App Developer of the Year category for its development of Nintex Workflow Online, which enables businesses to run Nintex Workflow in the cloud. Nintex Workflow Online, available in preview mode in the Office Store, delivers the same powerful business process automation, graphic drag-and-drop workflow designer and advanced workflow features that Nintex Workflow on-premise products deliver to customers. It also integrates with many other Microsoft technologies, including Yammer, Windows Azure, Microsoft Project Server and Office 365. The product further extends business process automation to more people, places and devices, continuing the Nintex vision of delivering “Workflow for Everyone.”
On the heels of being named in the Gartner list of “Cool Vendors in Program and Portfolio Management, 2013,” Nintex Workflow for Project Server earned finalist honors in the Microsoft Project and Portfolio Management Partner of the Year category. Nintex Workflow for Project Server expands the reach of its high-productivity workflow process management tool to project and portfolio managers. This enables them to automate repetitive tasks, reduce project completion times and costs, and focus on innovation that drives organizational growth. New features introduced earlier this year integrate mobile and social capabilities to project management and process automation and allow workflows to connect to an ever-growing catalog of online services hosted in the cloud.
“We realize the importance of creating solutions that solve real business problems and have broad market appeal,” said Woolston. “We’ve worked closely with our network of customers and partners to ensure our products provide exceptional value. We’re thrilled Microsoft has again recognized Nintex as a leader in delivering quality solutions that improve our partners’ businesses.”
Award winners and finalists, chosen from global nominations, will be recognized at the 2013 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, the company’s premier annual event for industry partners, July 7–11 in Houston.
Nintex Named "Cool Vendor" by GartnerMay 06, 2013
Nintex today announced it has been included in Gartner Inc.’s list of "Cool Vendors in Program and Portfolio Management, 2013,” published April 29, 2013 by analysts Robert A. Handler, Matt Light, Jim Duggan, Daniel B. Stang, Donna Fitzgerald, and Elise Olding. The exclusive list highlights innovative vendors and their products and services selected by Gartner analysts.
In the report, Gartner states that “organizations struggle to gain more productivity with fixed resource pools.” Nintex Workflow allows business users and IT developers the ability to design and implement end-to-end workflows with a graphical drag-and-drop interface, without the need for lengthy development cycles.
Nintex customers have reported increased efficiency and cost savings, such as a 20 percent reduction of time spent in meetings, up to 50 percent faster project completion times and hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings in IT support. For example, one Nintex customer saved $200,000 by designing a workflow to solve a problem in two-week’s time and training the staff to maintain the workflow without ongoing IT support.
“Traditional business process management tools that cater only to developers can become an IT burden. We believe the Gartner report captures the unique essence of our high-productivity workflow tool, valuable to developers, IT professionals, project and portfolio managers, and the ‘citizen developers’ among business users” said Alberto Sutton vice president of marketing at Nintex. “Additionally, our user community is already realizing the rewards of applying mobile and social capabilities to process automation. We will continue to support a mix of structured and unstructured processes while also offering hybrid deployments, connectivity to systems and the momentum of our cloud based technologies.”
As an example, Nintex Workflow allows users to connect with resources outside the boundaries of SharePoint and Project Server. This connectivity allows project managers to access information from financial, human resources, billing and other previously unconnected systems to create more complete workflows. Project and portfolio managers can build processes that connect to an ever-growing catalog of online services and interact directly with Office 365, Yammer, Twitter, Bing and a world of business, government and public information services hosted in the cloud.
“Nintex will continue to gain steady adoption in organizations because of its ease-of-use and continued innovation, making it worthwhile to automate even variable processes and projects,” said Dux Raymond Sy, PMP, managing partner at Innovative-e. “Nintex is committed to fast roll outs, continuous refinements and understanding the needs of project managers; all reasons why we believe its workflow tools deliver value to the marketplace. We are confident recommending Nintex Workflow to our clients as a great addition to their technology toolkit.”

Nintex Forms 2013 and Nintex Workflow for Project Server 2013 Now AvailableFebruary 25, 2013
Nintex announced today the availability of Nintex Forms 2013 and Nintex Workflow for Project Server 2013. Both products enhance workflow and project management in SharePoint 2013 and Project Server 2013 and continue a steady stream of investment and innovation.
The new versions are tailor-made for early adopters of SharePoint 2013 and Project Server 2013. They also contain new innovations that extend business process automation to more people, places, devices, and social media channels, continuing the Nintex vision of delivering ‘Workflow For Everyone’.
Nintex Forms 2013
Nintex Forms 2013 enables business users and developers to transform SharePoint content into sophisticated, process-driven applications without needing to write a single line of code. Starting with automatically-generated forms, users can quickly customize the look and feel of their applications through a browser-based designer, and then leverage an advanced rules engine to enforce presentation logic. Forms can then be optimized for different devices and screen sizes, and then published to the intranet or Internet with a single click. Nintex Forms also helps customers extend their investment in Nintex Workflow, connecting forms to processes, integrating with line of business systems, and leveraging cloud services.
“Nintex Forms are SharePoint-native, mobile-enabled, workflow-aware, and cloud-ready. They can be built and managed easily, and they look great,” said Mike Fitzmaurice, Nintex vice president of product technology. “Processes can easily include customers, vendors, partners, and employees who aren’t at the office. SharePoint customers loved our 2010 edition, and they’re going to love this 2013 release.”
Nintex Workflow for Project Server 2013
Nintex Workflow for Project Server 2013 allows project and portfolio managers to design and implement end-to-end workflows with a drag-and-drop interface, without the need for a single line of code or lengthy development cycle. Its browser-based designer embedded within Microsoft Project Server allows project and portfolio managers to create demand management and event driven workflows, track project status and review reports all within the browser, all without the need for additional software. The 2013 version provides support for the new security models within Project Server 2013, while continuing to provide easy querying, publishing, and debugging capabilities for designing demand management workflows. With event-driven workflows, processes can automatically attend to events like a timesheet submission, a project’s publishing, or a resource’s creation.
“Leveraging Nintex Workflow for Project Server empowers project and portfolio managers to implement no-code workflows and ensure project lifecycle governance,” said Alberto Sutton, Nintex vice president of product management. “Users can deploy workflows to better manage tasks, events, resources, and artifacts. This helps improve decision making with workflows connected to key business systems without adding to IT’s management burden.”

Nintex Workflow 2013 and Nintex Forms 2013 both leverage advancements within the SharePoint platform, while adding new mobile device capability, social media integration and support for cloud hosted scenarios.
The next generation of Nintex products will empower organizations to extend business process automation to more people, places and devices, continuing the Nintex vision of delivering 'Workflow For Everyone'.

- Cloud - The Nintex cloud strategy is based around the philosophy that the "cloud" is one more place where work gets done. The company began supporting cloud computing two years ago with the release of Nintex Live, when SharePoint 2010 workflows could connect with Office 365. In the SharePoint 2013 era, Nintex users will be able to run workflows in the cloud, as well as use a combination of online and onsite workflows.
"Customers enjoy using Nintex products because we make it easy, for a broad range of users, to create workflows and forms, without having to write a single line of code. They can quickly manage multiple processes from the familiar browser-based SharePoint interface," said Alberto Sutton, Nintex vice president of product management. "Our 2013-ready investments are expanding users' freedom to initiate and improve processes, manage productivity, and support decision making at all levels of an organization.
"We heard from our partners and customers that timing the transition to SharePoint 2013 was a priority," said Mike Fitzmaurice, Nintex vice president of product technology. "We worked closely with Microsoft's SharePoint team to ensure that we are able to meet customers where they choose to go, particularly if they want to immediately move to SharePoint 2013. As in previous versions, the new Nintex Workflow, Nintex Forms and Nintex Workflow for Project Server for 2013 will work seamlessly with the new SharePoint platform.

"As an organization with multiple business processes and systems, we have come to rely on Nintex not only for its easy to use products and support, but also for its innovation and ability to bring new technologies to market," said Benedict Chiu, corporate applications team leader at South East Water, Australia. "Knowing that Nintex has immediately integrated its technology into SharePoint 2013 while supporting the existing platform gives us confidence that we can adopt new tools on our own timetable and that we made the right choice in technology to help with our workflow systems."

Las Vegas, Nev. – November 12, 2012– Nintex (www.nintex.com), the world’s leading SharePoint workflow company, today announced rich integration between Nintex Workflow and Yammer, the best-in-class Enterprise Social Network recently acquired by Microsoft. Available Now Nintex Forms 2010 Version 1.1March 08, 2012
Nintex Forms 2010 version 1.1 has been released today. As well as allowing you to build forms for SharePoint lists and libraries quickly using a drag-and-drop browser designer, it now includes additional features that will improve the user experience of designing and using your forms.
New features like inline functions and the ability to show and hide controls based on form mode will become invaluable to you when designing forms to handle expense reports, helpdesk requests and employee review forms to name just a few.
Form Design Experience
When designing a form, controls placed on the designer canvas can be moved using the arrow keys, allowing for greater accuracy of control placement and form layout formatting. In addition, the controls on the form are now aware of changes made to the underlying SharePoint list column that it is bound to. For example, updating a list column’s title will automatically be reflected on the form without the need to republish.
Extending the Form Design Areas Within Nintex Workflow and SharePoint
The added capability to design forms for SharePoint external lists, provides the ability to change the controls of the external data columns which otherwise would have limited users to just a single line textbox. Nintex Forms can now be leveraged within reusable workflow templates in Nintex Workflow 2010.
Additional SharePoint Form Controls
Nintex Forms now has support for SharePoint column types such as event recursion for calendar lists, managed metadata, and external data columns. This provides greater flexibility to designing forms and leverages the advantages of these SharePoint column types within a form. It is now possible to design forms that consume information from other systems (external data column) and have structured taxonomy selection (managed metadata).
New Calculated Value Control
The new calculated value control, dynamically performs a calculation or concatenation of values and displays the result at form run time. See calculated fields update instantaneously when filling out forms.
New Inline Functions Including Form
New inline functions have been added, such as evaluating if the form is in new, edit or view mode, and checking if a user is part of a SharePoint audience. This provides greater flexibility over the display and enabling of controls on the form providing a much more targeted form to the user.
List Form Web Part
The List Form webpart allows a list form designed with Nintex Forms to be embedded on a page within a SharePoint 2010 site or portal. The List Form webpart can also be connected to a SharePoint list view web part, providing an easy way to view the contents of a list and edit / view the list item in a form on one single page.
This version update of Nintex Forms is available to current Software Assurance subscribers free of charge.

Nintex Live Brings Real-Time Language Translation To Your Business ProcessesFebruary 16, 2012
The Nintex Live catalogue offers many services to choose from, and we realise that it’s sometimes hard to know where to start. Many of our customers, particularly multinational organizations, are seeing big value from the “Bing translation” and “Bing language detection” actions.
One very large, well-known multimedia company uses these Nintex Live actions during their sales processes. When an inquiry comes in about a product that requires a response in a foreign language, Nintex Live kicks in: first the language used in the customer inquiry is identified with “Bing language detection”. Then “Bing translation” translates the text and the translation is included in the notification to the sales representative. Finally, a translator capable in the given language is also identified for the sales representative so that they have a first point of call if they’re needed later in the sales cycle. The end results? Faster sales and happier customers.

Out of the box there are reports for documents, lists & discussions, sites, users, activity, search, performance, storage, as well as dashboards targeted to different types of users, such as system administrators or content owners.
Nintex Analytics 2010 delivers reports when it matters, on demand, and to the right people. Reports can be accessed via online reports and/or dashboards, Excel exports, SharePoint webparts, or email subscription. Reports can run on schedule for regular monitoring or be generated on-demand to provide an up to date snapshot you can use to confidently make decisions. Email subscription gives you the power to assess and take action promptly.
Like all IT investments, ROI needs to be measurable, and your large investment in SharePoint should not be considered any different. Understand how departments and individuals in your organization use SharePoint, and have the information at your fingertips to address undesirable usage, as well as identify and reward constructive adoption. Analyze search activity and use this insight to make portal changes that provide faster answers to common search queries. Use the system insight to justify to stakeholders the prioritization and budget for upgrades and new roll outs.
“Nintex Analytics 2010 takes full advantage of the SharePoint 2010 user experience, offers rich reports, and provides the answers about your SharePoint environment to SharePoint users, system administrators and management, to name a few” said Mike Fitzmaurice, Nintex vice president of product technology.
The launch of Nintex Analytics concludes a beta program involving a large user-base of Nintex partners around the globe, Nintex Reporting 2008 customers, and Microsoft employees, which provided invaluable feedback and ensured that Nintex Analytics is both functional and feature-rich.

Nintex Live Now Available for SharePoint 2010May 18, 2011
Nintex a Microsoft Certified Gold partner with a history of successful workflow products spanning several releases of Microsoft SharePoint, today announced the immediate availability of Nintex Live, a cloud service provides a wide variety of new capabilities to SharePoint workflows designed with Nintex Workflow 2010.
“Whether you go to the cloud or not,” said Mike Fitzmaurice, vice president of product technology, “Nintex Live will bring the cloud to you.” Nintex Live catalogs web services that, among other things, translate sentences, calculate exchange rates, fetch demographic data, post updates to social networking sites, and validate phone numbers. These are then presented to workflow authors as simple drag-and-drop components.
“Being in the cloud lets us evolve our feature set on “Internet time” – and when we add features, no one has to update any local SharePoint servers,” Fitzmaurice added.
“Nintex continues to offer SharePoint 2010 solutions by building the Nintex Live solution for our customers moving to the cloud,” said Jared Spataro, director, SharePoint product management, Microsoft. “We are pleased Nintex Live and offerings like Office 365 provide cloud-based solutions for our customers.”
Nintex Live is designed to be extended, both by Nintex itself and by third parties. New services can be registered with Nintex Live yet managed by their owners. The technology will even facilitate distributed workflow solutions by allowing a workflow in one location to start and communicate with a workflow in a completely different location.
The service runs on Windows Azure, Microsoft’s cloud-hosted operating system. The decision to build on Windows Azure was an easy one, according to Wayne Woolston, managing director, “by leveraging Windows Azure, we were able to focus on the job to be done, and let the platform take care of scaling, messaging, queuing, encryption, and host of other concerns cloud services usually must address by themselves.”
Customers with software assurance agreements will be eligible for invitations to activate Nintex Workflow 2010’s ability to communicate with Nintex Live at no additional charge, although some individual cloud web services may have associated costs. “The decision to use any given service in the catalog will depend on the customer and the service,” said Woolston, “but deciding whether to connect to Nintex Live itself should be easy.

Nintex Analytics 2010 will include large leaps forward in scalability and scope, rigorous data manageability and security, a Silverlight-based ad-hoc report designer, and the tracking of new categories of SharePoint activity, beginning with click-through page analytics.
Additional research and development investments are focused around cloud computing, particularly with SharePoint Online Services and Windows Azure. Nintex is pursuing twin strategies, the first of which is to ensure that Nintex products deploy to hosted environments, and the second of which is to create new categories of cloud functionality. “While SharePoint remains the center of the universe, Nintex will extend SharePoint’s reach with new innovations that consume and provide cloud services – workflows, for example – throughout that universe,” said Mike Fitzmaurice, vice president of product technology at Nintex. “We were all in with SharePoint since the beginning, and we’re all in with cloud computing now.”

Understanding SharePoint Journal on Nintex Workflow 2007 ReleasedJune 03, 2009
Understanding SharePoint Journal has released an issue focused on understanding Nintex Workflow 2007. Now, users can learn how to work with Nintex Workflow, including installation and configuration, authoring workflows, and managing workflow execution.
SharePoint promises a high return on investment for organizations, and business process management is one of the most important tools in realizing that return. In this highly competitive industry, Nintex Workflow 2007 is recognized as a powerful workflow authoring and management system.
However, for many software investments, organizations often neglect proper training in an effort to reduce their spending. This leads to reduced value of that investment rather than savings. According to Gartner*, “sustaining business process management in an organization requires building the competency and having a vision about how BPM will function within the enterprise. “
“I wanted to show readers third-party SharePoint products like Nintex Workflow,” said Bjørn Furuknap, author and editor of Understanding SharePoint Journal. “Since Nintex agreed to sponsor the issue without getting any editorial control, we can offer the issue for free without sacrificing the integrity of the content.”
“Knowing the author was a self-confessed ‘passionate SharePointaholic’ Nintex was very pleased to support the USP Journal detailing the features and functions of Nintex Workflow 2007” said Wayne Woolston, Nintex Managing Director. “We hope this journal inspires readers to think outside the square for strong SharePoint workflow capability.”
