About the role:
As a Staff Platform Engineer, you own the technical strategy for a key product area or platform, ensuring long-term scalability, maintainability, and alignment with business objectives.
For platform-focused roles, you contribute to the internal developer platform features – help defining roadmaps informed by adoption metrics, feedback loops and platform SLAs – all in service of your team’s developer experience.
You exhibit advanced wide-ranging experience, applying in-depth professional knowledge and commercial acumen to resolve complex technical challenges and define scalable procedures.
You lead technical direction across a feature team or product domain, drive architectural decisions, and influence multiple teams to ensure consistency -balancing hands-on technical contribution with strategic leadership.
You develop deep domain expertise and actively influence engineering strategy at the organizational level, serving as a senior technical leader who is accountable for platform reliability, scalability, and the technical growth of engineers around them.
Your contribution will be:
• You own technical strategy for the infrastructure of a key product area or platform, ensuring long-term scalability, maintainability, and alignment with business objectives
• You lead technical direction for a feature team or product domain infrastructure, making critical architectural decisions
• You understand and work on complex issues where analysis requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors
• You determine methods and procedures on new assignments, exercising judgment in selecting and adapting complex techniques
• You direct the application of existing principles and guide development of new policies and ideas
• You anticipate and mitigate technical risks for large projects, planning proactively to avoid issues
• You drive architectural decisions and technical strategy across multiple teams and systems
• You influence multiple teams, ensuring consistency in technical approaches, frameworks, and architectural decisions
• You network with key contacts outside your area of expertise, frequently advising others on complex matters

• Drive improvement that reduces cognitive load for engineers
To be successful, we think you need:
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 8+ years of professional experience in Platform, Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or related field
• Demonstrated expertise in architecting and implementing large-scale systems
• Proven track record of technical leadership and influencing multiple teams
• Expert-level knowledge of cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and Platform practices
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to balance technical and business priorities
• Experience defining technical strategy and driving adoption across teams
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
• Previous experience leading large technical initiatives across multiple teams
• Multiple advanced certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional)
• Experience defining technical strategy and roadmaps for complex systems
• Strong background in building engineering culture and best practices
• Experience working closely with product management and executive leadership
• Contributions to open-source projects or recognized thought leadership in the industry
