About the Role

We are looking to bring on board a DevOps Manager to lead our globally distributed team of DevOps Engineers! You’ll be working with a diverse set of systems and platforms that support all of our customer facing products and services, and will be assisting engineering teams in building out our DevOps functions and culture.

Whilst we’re looking for a leader we still want you to be hands on technically! We want you to be strategic with excellent technical execution, and the ability to communicate up and down the organisation whilst forging strong collaborative relationships with your stakeholders.

Your contribution will be:

Build on and refine our DevOps Practice:  Working with the Director of DevOps to further built up/out our DevOps Strategy. This will require a focus on change/stakeholder management and includes the following duties and deliverables:

  • Responsibility for building out the DevOps Practice that focuses on Product Team enablement
  • Assist in identifying areas that could leverage automation and techniques like infrastructure as code
  • Increase knowledge and competency to enable a 24/7 reliability-focused culture across R&D teams
  • Develop teams and individuals, define targets, develop methodology, and tooling to ensure Product teams and their Products are highly available, monitored, deployed and configured through automation, secure, and resistant to vulnerabilities and security attacks.

Build on and refine our platform infrastructure and team: provide input and guidance to build on, refine, and maintain Nintex-wide development, test and production platform infrastructure, and tooling. This includes the following duties and deliverables:

  • Development and ownership of platform infrastructure (the core compute and network resources leveraged by all Products)
  • Proactive real time logging, monitoring, and alerting of production resources
  • Working with Product Teams to ensure Product service level objectives (SLO), recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) are designed and tested (on a regular cadence)
  • Own and develop Nintex automation standards and capabilities (including tools)
  • Support Product Teams to design for and maintain cost effective Products
  • Together with Security and Product teams, improve product and platform security
  • Keep up with the latest industry trends in DevOps practices and infrastructure modernization/efficiencies
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of industry certification.

Incident Management:  The DevOps Manager is part of the incident call rotation and is the escalation point for times when not on-call.

Department Management:  Together with the Director of DevOps, attend to and, where required, expand on the efficient running of the department. This may include:

  • Assisting with Budget and P&L responsibilities
  • Proactively manage relationships with external providers to ensure service level agreements are aligned to our customer service level agreements
  • International travel to our development centres for periods of up to 2 weeks per trip.

Compliance:  The DevOps Manager and team assist in acquiring and maintaining certifications, in particular the DevOps Manager is a Control Owner and works with the Security Compliance team to prepare and present evidence to external auditors.

To be successful we think you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field
    or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of software engineering or systems engineering experience
  • 3+ years’ operating as a DevOps Manager in a fast paced/growing, multi product and
    complex B2B or B2C PaaS/SaaS based platform
  • Experience in hands-on leadership with the ability to work directly with and through others to achieve sustained changes (in person or virtually)
  • Practical knowledge and proven implementation experience gained within an; existing fast
    paced/growing, multi product and complex B2B or B2C PaaS/SaaS based platform (Azure, AWS, GCP,
    Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, etc), of a size of Nintex or a few years beyond.
