Buckman saves $800K by automating purchase requests

Global leader in specialty chemicals saves big with Nintex Platform for Microsoft Office 365

Tennessee-based Buckman is a global leader in specialty chemical supply. They relied heavily on email to manage procurement requests. All technical data, pricing, equipment, and product purchase approvals were managed by procurement using email as the primary means of communication. As a result, they were drowning in emails and the entire purchasing process had become bogged down.

Buckman also had issues with managing workplace safety incidents. Associates had to wait until they got back to an office to manually file incident reports. The delay could result in incomplete or inaccurate reports and often produced long response times.

To remain competitive, Buckman had to address these and other process issues that were holding them back. Automating manual processes with the Nintex Platform for Microsoft Office 365 cleared the way for accelerated growth and innovation.

Who they are

Buckman, based in Memphis, Tennessee, is an ISO-certified global specialty chemical company with annual sales of more than $500 million and 1,750 employees in more than 90 countries.

What they needed

Facing increased competition and higher customer expectations, Buckman sought new ways to minimize costs and increase ROI. They also wanted to use the advanced features of Microsoft Office 365 to improve communications and response times.

How they did it

Buckman uses Nintex Advanced Workflow for Office 365 to automate processes in nearly every aspect of its operations–sales, procurement, workplace safety, and customer support.

Nintex Advanced Workflow for Microsoft Office 365 automates solutions across Buckman

Buckman first addressed the backlog of procurement requests. Using Advanced Workflow and Nintex Modern Forms for Office 365, the team created a workflow that organized, streamlined, and automated procurement processes–while significantly reducing email volume. As a result, approval and processing times were reduced from three to five weeks to just a few days.

Buckman expanded its workflow automation efforts to improve safety inspection response times. Instead of waiting to file paper-based incident reports, Buckman employees now use the Nintex Modern App on their mobile devices to record safety incidents whenever and wherever they occur. Employees can now include photo attachments as well, so submitted reports are more comprehensive and accurate than before.

With Advanced Workflow for Office 365, Buckman sales associates have eliminated many of the manual steps associated with creating customer records and maintaining updates across the organization. Advanced Workflow for Office 365 automates the creation of centralized customer folders, synchronizes updates, manages access permissions, and notifies relevant team members when new information is available. Everyone uses the same data, eliminating version control problems and helping improve customer service.

Bottom line? Nintex and Buckman have great chemistry.

We can do so much with Nintex for Office 365 because it allows us to generate solutions quickly without needing to write code. With Nintex, we can get to a proof-of-concept in less than an hour. The accelerated time to benefit is a huge value add that Nintex brings to the table.
