Swiss hospital remedies its process automation demand with Nintex

Needed: A new way to manage onsite daycare

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, most businesses and organizations scrambled to find new ways for their employees to work remotely. For this large hospital in Switzerland, one of the new accommodations it had to make wasn’t for its employees—it was for its employees’ children.

Even with telemedicine, most healthcare workers have to work where their patients are. But while the hospital’s staffers continued to come to work, the public and private sector daycare centers that hosted their children all closed. Parents were left with a potential dilemma: stay home from work to tend their children or find alternate child care arrangements—fast.

Fortunately, the hospital stepped in to prevent that potential dilemma from becoming a real one. It expanded its onsite day care centers from a single center to five centers in order to meet the increase in demand from employees. More than needing increased space, the hospital needed a new way to manage the day-care service. What they need

When COVID-19 struck, the hospital suddenly faced a vastly increased demand for daycare services for its employees’ children—and needed a new, more efficient way to handle registration and management.

The hospital partnered with Nintex solutions provider Bechtle Suisse SA, to create a series of Nintex Forms and Nintex Workflows to manage the previously manual processes involving a mixture of phone calls, emails, and spreadsheets.

The hospital needed highly functional forms and workflows, and they needed them fast to handle an immediate increase in demand. Their development with Nintex delivered just that.

Working with Nintex Partner Bechtle Suisse SA, the hospital had a version of the first form ready in a few hours, iterated the forms between business and technology teams over the course of two weeks, and put them into production use after a week of training for employees. Each day, the technical team implemented refinements or expansions that the business team had requested just the day before, shared the results, then obtained their further feedback to continue the development cycle.

The hospital’s IT team says they couldn’t have delivered as effective or efficient without Nintex – estimating they cut the development time in half. Thanks to the Nintex solution, the hospital was able to sufficiently accommodate their employees so they could continue to work.
