National Metrology Institute of South Africa speeds workflow development with Nintex

Easy-to-use workflows improve processes across all departments

Jayesh Jina, head of IT at the National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA), faced a workflow challenge. NMISA keeps and maintains national measurement standards and units for South African industrial, environmental, health, and safety sectors. To do this, NMISA manages an enormous number of processes. They also have a chronic shortage of resources to establish workflows that ensure compliance with stringent international standards and measurements.

Jayesh and his team found that out-of-the-box SharePoint workflows were very tedious to build and manage. NMISA wanted an easy to use, integrated solution that would speed development of workflows while increasing transparency and accountability.

To accomplish these goals, NMISA turned to Nintex Advanced Workflow because of its drag-and-drop interface and deep integration with SharePoint.

Who they are

Founded in 2006, Pretoria-based NMISA maintains national measurement standards and units for industry in South Africa. It also monitors standards to ensure measurement equivalence with global standards.

What they needed

NMISA needed an easy-to-use way to automate processes, improve productivity, and empower users to create their own workflows.

How they did it

NMISA’s IT department used Nintex Advanced Workflow and Modern Forms to quickly create workflows that integrated with their existing SharePoint infrastructure. Advanced Workflow’s drag-and-drop interface also empowered NMIT’s business users to create their own workflows with very little training—freeing up even more of IT’s time.

Delivers workflow automation with clicks, not code

With Nintex Advanced Workflow and Modern Forms for SharePoint, NMISA developers built and deployed new workflows in no time.

“The Nintex drag-and-drop functionality enables our team to create workflows and deploy faster than we could have imagined,” says Jayesh. “It’s made a huge difference in our department’s productivity.”

According to Jayesh, it’s also easy to train business users to create and manage workflows themselves. This further reduces the burden on IT and has helped encourage broad adoption of the Nintex platform across the organization.

“With Nintex, there is virtually no learning curve for our employees when they begin using the system,” he says. “We have been thrilled with how easy it’s been to adopt the solution across nearly every department in the company.”

Nintex took NMISA from complex and cumbersome to streamlined and automated—no code required. That’s a great outcome by anyone’s standards.
