Our January and first Workflow Wonder of 2021 features GM Financial, the finance wing of General Motors. GM Financial has been a dedicated Nintex customer since 2013, and they’ve since automated over 700 processes (averaging 100 per year) with no intentions of slowing down. In fact, we foresee them leveraging their Nintex solution more, and here’s why:
The team at GM Financial has taken a Nintex approach to process automation. They’re using the Nintex Process Platform to manage incoming demand of new automation requests that often utilize Nintex Forms or Workflow. The software continues to be leveraged to choreograph the company’s automation projects – from initial approvals to deployment dates to system maintenance.
In the Workflow Wonders webinar, now available on-demand, GM Financial’s SharePoint Systems Manager Jarrett Robinson shares the inside scoop from his experience using Nintex to manage automation projects alongside a team of 16 developers and analysts.
Leveraging the Nintex Platform
Jarrett and his team have implemented process automation in departments ranging from accounting to risk management to underwriting. Here are a few figures showing impact of the overall automation program at GM Financial:
- 719 process automated and counting
- 5,878 workflows supporting those processes
- 1.14 billion workflow executions (or workflows triggered by a certain action like submitting a form or approving a request)
Naturally different areas of the business recognized other teams experiencing immediate efficiency gains from the Nintex Workflow Platform – which led to an influx of process automation requests for Robinson and the team. That’s when the team implemented a Nintex process to manage the Nintex (~100 annual) processes in flight.
With Nintex, when an automation request is submitted, Jarrett’s team measures whether the input is worth the output and if so, a workflow is routed to management for approval and buy-in. Managers can also provide input and priority level.
Visibility is another benefit that teams get from Nintex processes. Leadership at GM Financial know which processes are bogged down, what’s causing the bottleneck, and then make informed decisions to optimize business operations.
GM Financial won the 2020 Nintex Solution Innovation Award in the financial services category.
