After recently celebrating her sixth work anniversary with Nintex, we finally caught up with Amy Degnan who is a strategic partner manager representing our team from Melbourne, Australia.
Amy’s responsibilities include managing the Nintex channel strategy across Asia Pacific – leading a program that enables partners to sell alongside Nintex experts, rather than a completely self-serve with a “go fish” approach to partnership. Amy collaborates with Nintex partners to deliver successful, measurable outcomes for our customers.
Check out 11 questions with Amy Degnan below.
- What is your role at Nintex?
I am a strategic partner manager in APAC.
- Tell us a little bit about how you ended up at Nintex?
After hearing about an open opportunity at Nintex, I applied and reached out to a Nintex employee I knew from a past job to say something along the lines of “Hey I applied at Nintex. If you can put in a good word for me that’d be great!” Shortly after that, I joined the team as an account manager then moved into a partner account manager role, then account executive, and now strategic partner manager.
- What does an ideal day-off of work look like for you?
Maybe a restaurant crawl or a long dinner. Melbourne is known as the foodie capital of Australia. My ideal day-off doesn’t sound that exciting when I mention it out loud, but there’s nothing better than lounging with friends and enjoying some nice food.
- Where is home for you?
- What is the best part about where you live right now?
I love the activity. There are always exciting activities happening in Melbourne. Whether it’s a sporting event, a concert, or a show.
- What’s your favorite food?
My favorite food depends on my mood. I love a good steakhouse or a Japanese restaurant. You can’t go wrong with those.
- What would you choose as a superpower and why?
Flying would make everything better.
- If you could be any animal, which would you choose and why?
I would without a doubt be a giraffe. It would be great to experience what it’s like to be tall for a day.
- What would an alternative line of work be for you?
We’re talking about two opposite ends of the spectrum here, because I always wanted to become an attorney growing up. Then I saw the Wedding Planner movie with J.Lo, and thought wedding planning could be an option. But now I’m in tech. So lawyer, turned wedding planner, turned SaaS sales.
- Do you have any advice for a prospective Nintex employee?
I’ve never worked at a place that’s so supportive and receptive. Don’t be too shy to ask for help or learn more about someone and what they do. That’s what makes us successful – how well we work together.
- What is your favorite experience with a Nintex customer?
We took customers to the Australian Open to step back from the traditional business conversations and get to know our customers on a more personal level. Not only was the day incredibly fun, but we were able to build strong relationships with our top customers for even more success down the road.
