The V Foundation

Founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano, the V Foundation has awarded nearly $290 million in cancer research grants and is a premier supporter of cutting-edge cancer research. The Foundation’s funding model promises donors that 100% of their direct donations will go to cancer research and programs.

V Foundation donors are sent acknowledgment letters in response to donations. To add another layer of transparency, the Foundation set out to create comprehensive year-end statements that itemized their annual contributions. But with a growing donor base, the V Foundation couldn’t expect its limited donor team to create and send out these letters manually and needed a way to automate the generation of these documents.

A perfect fit with Nintex

Leveraging Nintex Drawloop® DocGen for Salesforce allowed the V Foundation to create the customized year-end tables for the donor letters and incorporated flexible customization and personalization based on particular campaigns within their Salesforce environment. It works behind the scenes to automatically populate Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PDF templates with data from Salesforce and other systems. It eliminates the need to manually create the documents the Foundation needed with just a few clicks from directly within Salesforce.

The formerly manual process for creating and sending donor letters was automated, and it now serves the V Foundation team well to supply donors with the information they want, when they need it.

  • First, their team selects one of 15 custom templates in Wordand the donor file in Salesforce
  • Leveraging their templates, Nintex Drawloop® pulls in donor information from Salesforce, merges fields, and produces a letter and envelope ready for review and mailing
