SmartLibrary Migration Tool preview release

The SmartLibrary Migration Tool has been developed as a pre-release addition to SmartLibrary V1.1 as a way to preview one of the new features of the upcoming version 1.2. This tool provides the ability to apply SmartLibrary functionality to existing document libraries. Like SmartLibrary, the Migration Tool works seamlessly with SharePoint technologies, using the same familiar interfaces and methods of working. After installing the Migration Tool, it is simply a matter of selecting an Administration option for the functionality to be enabled. Your existing document libraries will then have the key SmartLibrary features of Advanced Auditing, Document Workflow, Undelete and Advanced Publishing.

Note: This tool is a preview addition and only applies to version 1.1 of SmartLibrary. This feature will be built in to the next version, v1.2, and all subsequent versions. The previous expiry date has now been extended to provide a longer preview period and will function until midnight, December 31st, 2004.

Prerequisites

Nintex SmartLibrary v1.1 must be installed and correctly configured.

Hard disk space

Those responsible for installing the SmartLibrary Migration Tool should be aware of the requirements for extra disk space related to SmartLibrary's Undelete functionality. The Undelete function works by making a shadow copy of every file in the selected Document Library. This means that the required hard disk space will increase by twice the current size of every document library that is upgraded - a document library containing 9MB worth of documents would therefore be increased to 18MB.

Site administrators should ensure that there is sufficient disk space to handle the increased load requirements.

Furthermore, if an administrator has set a quota limit on a document library, the quota will need to be amended to take into account the increased storage size needed by the document undelete functionality.
